AWARD-WINNING director Bb. Joyce Bernal will again direct the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte, which she said will be “hopeful and good.”
“I want it hopeful and good. Yung parang masaya na, kasi last year, anong nangyari? Mga bashers!” she told mediamen in an interview after a brief inspection and walkthrough at the House plenary hall.
Last year, Bernal also directed the President’s SONA but its uniqueness failed to be executed when a change in the House leadership stole the limelight.
Hours before last year’s SONA, Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez was ousted and replaced by then Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, making her the first woman to become Speaker.
When asked about her talent fee, Bernal said she is doing it for free and as gratitude for the sacrifices of the President.
“Parang dapat lahat tayo pro bono for the Philippines. Konting-konti lang ‘tong tulong na ‘to,” Bernal said.
The 4th SONA will be on July 22.
Among her plans this time is to have a live music, the podium of the president should be decorated with weaved materials from Mindanao.
The director also refused to divulge the budget for the 2018 and 2019 SONA.
“Last year hindi na po namin kinuwenta. ‘Wag n’yo na pong i-quantify in money because money is nothing.
