SUPREME Court spokesman Brian Keith Hosaka yesterday announced that the court en banc appointed Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta to coordinate with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency over the supposed inclusion of judges in the “narco list.”
Hosaka said Peralta’s designation was to pave the way for a formal fact-finding and administrative investigation by the high court.
“In the past several days, there have been news reports about judges purportedly linked to the illegal drug trade...The Supreme Court, like in the past, will and shall not tolerate any illegal or corrupt activities within its ranks,” the SC said in a media briefer.
In a related development, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has formally asked the PDEA for the names of public prosecutors included on the so-called narco-list.
“I have already sent a letter-request to PDEA,” Guevarra told reporters.
