TACLOBAN City, Leyte -- Hugpong ng Pagbabago founder and chairman Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she is not expecting to get the top three Senate seats but will be very grateful to get the majority.
Reacting to the latest result of the Pulse Asia survey, Mayor Sara said they are very thankful to the people for accepting the senatorial candidates of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
At least eight of the HNP candidates, namely, Cynthia Villar; Bong Go; Sonny Angara; Pia Cayetano; Bato dela Rosa; Bong Revilla; Imee Marcos and Koko Pimentel were in the top 12 of the Pulse Asia survey.
“We are happy na the trust and confidence of the people sa mga senators ng Hugpong ng Pagbabago and as I said na we hope na hanggang election day nandun na yung kanilang pagsuporta,” the presidential daughter said.
Trailing behind the survey are three other HNP candidates Jinggoy Estrada; Francis Tolentino and JV Ejercito.
When asked if she is already satisfied with eight candidates in the Magic 12, the HNP campaign manager said, “We are only praying for majority or seven.”
“Seven lang ang ipinagdadasal namin. Eight is swerte na. Nine, 10, mahal na mahal na kami ng Diyos talaga,” she said.
In a separate statement, Angara said he was elated by his good standing and expressed gratitude to the support given by his colleagues in the Senate like Senate President Tito Sotto and Majority Leader Migz Zubiri.
For his part, Tolentino vowed to campaign harder to get it into the Magic 12. In 2016, Tolentino placed 13th among the senatorial candidates.
“Nagpapasalamar tayo sa mga sumuporta, medyo umangat tayo sa last survey. Trabaho lang, trabaho pa din si Tol. Sipag lang, mas popular ang iba, tayo sipag lang,” he said.
