Mayor Sara also on voluntary quarantine

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte decided to go on voluntary quarantine at home following her brief meeting with Senator Sherwin Gatchalian in the Senate.

In a statement, Mayor Duterte said one she will undergo a voluntary monitored home quarantine and has signed up as a Person Under Monitoring under the Davao City Health Office.

One of her employees at their residence was unwell last night and is now also listed as a Person Under Monitoring.

On Wednesday, Mayor Duterte was in a lunch meeting with Gatchalian in Manila and they discussed important matters for Davao City.

Senator Gatchalian is himself under a self-quarantine in an announcement made last night.

“While Mayor Sara has not suffered from flu-like symptoms, she chose to undergo self-quarantine to protect others if she may be found to be sick in the next few days. She is now confined in an isolated bedroom at her residence and will continue to work through emails, messaging and videotelecon,” the statement read.

The presidential daughter and founder of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) was at the Senate on Wednesday for the confirmation of her appointment as colonel in the Philippine Army’s reserve force.

Her companion at the event, Davao City Rep. Isidro Ungab, also underwent self quarantine.

Ungab confirmed that he was at the Senate with Mayor Sara yesterday and interacted as well with Gatchalian.

“Although he looks very healthy and asymptomatic, the most responsible thing to do is to subject to home quarantine and make sure that I won’t be spreading the virus, but I want to assure my constituents that I will continue to work and serve them through electronic communication such as phone, emails, telcom and video conferencing,” Ungab said.

The solon said he did not proceed to the House of Representatives to attend the session.
