AFTER much speculation, former Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson yesterday finally admitted her interest in running for a Senate seat in next year’s midterm elections.
Uson confirmed her candidacy to the Senate reporters during her visit to the office of Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Senator JV Ejercito with whom she had a scheduled interview regarding the Universal Health Care Act for her social media blog.
When asked why she wanted to go into politics, Uson said that she took as a challenge the dirty political system and wanted to be the voice of what she called the “ordinary Filipinos”.
“Naniniwala po ako na paninira ‘yan sa pulitika, eh, dahil akala nila ako’y tatakbo. Kaya siguro, challenge na lang po sa akin ‘yan na bibigyan ko po ng boses ang ordinaryong Pilipino kaya… Oo! Tatakbo na ako!” Uson said.
But she tempered her declaration by saying she was still not 100 percent decided and would still seek the advice of President Duterte.
She added that she intends to fight the intrigues against her and what she called fake news about her reputation.
Uson was referring to the news which alleged that she did not resign from her post but was fired by President Rodrigo Duterte himself. She vehemently denied the story.
