SENATORS wished President Duterte good health following his revelation on Tuesday that his Barrett’s esophagus condition is worsening and his doctors had warned him that it could progress to Stage 1 cancer.
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said he believes the President will be taken good care of by his current partner, Honeylet Avanceña, who is a former nurse.
“He is past 74 years of age. It’s not unusual. I’m sure he will be taken care of properly knowing the medical background of Honeylet,” Sotto said.
Meanwhile, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto said he wishes the President well.
Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said the President “should take care of his health.”
Senator Sonny Angara also wished the President good health so he can run the country’s affairs efficiently.
“We wish the President good health because the country needs him to be in good shape to face the challenges brought by the COVID-19 (pandemic),” Angara said.
Even before he started his term, the President had admitted to having ailments, including Buerger’s Disease and myasthenia gravis, among others.
However, despite these health issues, Malacañang repeatedly assured the public that the President is fit to perform his duties.
