No more slot to probe Calida, Go, says Gordon

September 30, 2018

SENATE Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman Richard Gordon is not keen on pursuing the investigation on the allegations of illegal government contracts entered by the family of Solicitor General Jose Calida and Special Assistant to the President Secretary Christopher “Bong” Go.

Gordon, in an interview with DZBB, reasoned out that there is no more slot to investigate the allegations on the top government officials as his committee is already burdened with other similarly important issues.

“Ang pila sa Blue Ribbon, naaawa na ako sa staff ko, sabi piliin naman natin, may karapatan kami pumili,” Gordon pointed out.

Among those issues lined-up for investigation in his committee are the billions of drugs that allegedly came in the country using the Manila International Container Port that went past the Bureau of Customs, the PhilHealth fund anomaly, the questionable procurement of Mahindra vehicles by the Philippine National Police and the rice issue.

Gordon is reacting to the statement of Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV who earlier said he would request the Senate to fast track the conduct of investigation on the alleged multi-million government contracts of the security agency of Calida and the multi-billion contracts from the government that the company of Go’s relatives have secured.

But instead, Gordon advised Trillanes to further seek for more evidence and file cases with the Office of the Ombudsman.
