CATARMAN, Northern Samar – The Hugpong ng Pagbabago is confident that they do not have local allies involved in illegal drugs.
This was assured by HNP founder and chairman Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as she asked the team to see the narco-list and verify if any of their allies are included.
Anyone on the drug list will not be allowed to speak on the stage and campaign for the senatorial candidates, Mayor Sara said.
“It is a matter that we will discuss with our local host and our local partners becauses yun naman nasa narco-list na allied are allied sa kanila but definitely they will not be allowed to speak sa stage,” the presidential daughter said.
On the issue on whether or not the HNP will support those tagged as narco-politicians, Mayor Sara said they will leave it to the voters.
“Ang pagboto is a personal decision ng voter based sa assessment niya sa kandidato and based on perception niya kasi personal nya ang pagboto, iiwan na natin sa mga botante yung decision,” she added.
Last week, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) released the narco-list which contained 43 local officials allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
Reports said there are eight members of the PDP-Laban on the list.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sara said the 13 senatorial candidates of the HNP are not bothered whether or not there are supporters included on the list.
“So far nakausap ko na senatorial candidates. Wala namang nag-express ng hesitation sa mga places na merong politicians sa narco-list so yun naman is for the voters so bahala na ang botante basta ang ginawa ng ating presidente is pinakita ang list,” she said.
