A P.5 million bounty was offered by Department of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi for the capture of the riding-in-tandem suspects who shot Region IV-B lady prosecutorJosephine Carpio-Caranzo on June 10.
In an interview at the NAIA, Cusi, in his capacity as Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for Region IV-B (MIMAROPA), said he paid a visit to Caranzo, who is recovering at the Medical Mission Group Hospital in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, to express the concern and empathy of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Caranzo, 49, was shot outside her home in Barangay Bayanan on Monday morning by motorcycle-riding gunmen.
Cusi said: ‘The Duterte administration doesn’t tolerate these criminal acts. I assured Prosecutor Caranzo that the government will do everything to make sure that the people behind her ambush would be arrested.’
Cusi also attended the Police Command Conference held at the Philippine National Police Region IV headquarters for a briefing on the incident.
Upon being informed that a thorough investigation is still being conducted, Cusi offered P500,000 as reward for information that would lead to the arrest of the motorcycle-riding assailants.
‘We want this case solved. The safety of all our citizens is the President’s primordial concern. Here, a government worker who was doing her job was shot. We cannot let this pass,’ Cusi stressed.
