PCG medical team to get blood samples of OFWs arriving at NAIA for COVID-19 test

A MEDICAL team from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) yesterday said it will now be getting blood samples of all Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), including seafarers and land-based workers, arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for COVID-19 test.

The PCG will be getting said blood samples as part of the rapid test, to identify which of them are negative and who are positive for COVID-19.

The PCG medical team started getting blood samples from OFWs who arrived from Taiwan on board Eva Air before noon yesterday. The OFWs were brought to the holding area of the NAIA terminal 1 before boarding a PCG bus bound for quarantine sites sponsored by the government.

The PCG told the OFWs that getting their blood samples is mandatory so that those positive for COVID-19 can be helped at once.

The PCG will also take all vital information of OFWs so that they will know where and when they can pick up the said OFWs in case of infection.

After the examination and blood extraction, the OFWs will board the PCG buses bound for the quarantine sites provided by the government for their 14-day quarantine.
