THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police leaderships yesterday welcomed the appointment of Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chairman Dante Jimenez as the new co-chairman of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs.
“The appointment of Mr. Dante Jimenez as ICAD co-chairman is a welcome development for the illegal drug campaign.
“Mr. Jimenez, an anti-corruption crusader will greatly contribute to the illegal drug war of the government since illegal drug is also linked to corruption.
“We are looking forward to working with him,” PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino said in a statement.
Aquino, a retired police general, will be a co-chair of Jimenez in the ICAD which is tasked to coordinate all government anti-drug operations.
The PNP also welcomed President Duterte’s decision to designate Jimenez, the founder of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, to co-chair the ICAD.
“The PNP under General Archie Francisco Gamboa welcomes the appointment of PACC chairman Dante Jimenez as co-chairman of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs. His appointment is a welcome development in the continuing efforts of the PNP in support of the national campaign against illegal drugs,” said PNP spokesman Brigadier General Bernard M. Banac.
“As an anti-corruption crusader with a keen understanding of the complexities of the criminal justice system, Chairman Jimenez brings added impetus to the campaign against illegal drugs with his wide experience and background.
“The PNP looks ahead at the prospects of fighting corruption and illegal drugs with greater zeal and commitment,” Banac added.
