THE Philippine National Police (PNP) activated their Administrative Support for COVID-19 Task Force (ASCOTF) for faster logistic response and deployment of policemen who will serve as frontliners in several checkpoints and health facilities.
PNP Chief General Archie Gamboa ordered the formation of ASCOTF based on the guidance given by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año.
The Task Force will be led by PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Lt.Gen.Camilo Pancratius Cascolan.
The PNP Chief of Directorial Staff Major General Hawthorne Binag will serve as the vice chairman of the Task Force.
Accordingly, the ASCOTF will serve as internal operation of the PNP in their effort to prevent COVID-19.
Part of the functions of the ASCOTF are monitoring of deployment of logistics. like N95 face masks, overall suits, OR gowns, thermo scanners and deliveries of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to all police frontliners.
The ASCOTF will also lead the deployment of PNP personnel particularly those from Medical Reserve Force (MRF) to assigned health facilities such as Philippine International Convention Center, Rizal Memorial Stadium and other facilities like the Philippine Sport Complex that will be converted to health facilities.
The Task Force is also tasked to request funds for the procurement of rapid test kits authorized by the Department of Health.
Aside from these, ASCOTF will also monitor the deployment of MRF to Kiangan Hall that was earlier converted into quarantine area for cops who are considered as patient under investigation (PUI) or patient under monitoring (PUM).
