THREE more Philippine National Police personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 bringing to 10 the total number of law enforcement front-liners infected by the deadly virus to date, PNP spokesman, Brigadier General Bernard M. Banac said yesterday.
Banac said the three confirmed cases include a 55-year old male and a 45-year-old male, both from Metro Manila and a 42-year old male from Northern Luzon.
So far, a total of 152 PNP personnel composed of 20 Police Commissioned Officers, 126 Police Non-Commissioned Officers and 6 Non-Uniformed Personnel are considered as Persons Under Investigation (PUI) while 1,422 others composed of (289 PCOs, 1,075 PNCOs and 58 NUPs) were tagged as Persons Under Monitoring.
PNP chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa has ordered the conversion of the Kiangan Billeting Center in Camp Crame into a quarantine facility for their PUMs and PUIs.
On the other hand, National Capital Region Police Office director, Major Gen. Debold M. Sinas has designated three Special Care Facilities or Quarantine Areas inside the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City for Metro Manila policemen.
The Manila Police District headed by Brig. Gen. Rolando F. Miranda and the Northern Police District headed by Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan also have their respective quarantine facilities established thru the help of their respective local government units.
