FOR Hugpong ng Pagbabago chairperson and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, the results of the mid-term elections are crucial for President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration in the next three years.
In an interview after casting her vote in Davao City, the presidential daughter said the President needs more allies in the Senate so that his legislative agenda will be approved.
“Noong nakaraang three years, nakita natin na medyo nahihirapan si President Diuterte sa pagtupad ng mga gusto niyang mangyari sa ating bansa especially sa mga campaign promises niya,” Mayor Sara said.
Mayor Sara, who is also the HNP campaign manager, cast her vote at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School at around 8 a.m. President Duterte cast his vote in the same school later in the afternoon.
The HNP supported 13 senatorial candidates.
Since day one of the campaign Mayor Sara has been hoping to get at least eight seats to ensure the administration majority in the Senate.
“That’s why we really worked hard during this campaign para makuha yung majority. Present naming sa mga tao kung sino yung mga senators na nakaka-intindi kung ano yung vision ni President,” Mayor Sara.
During the 90-day campaign, the HNP had visited provinces and held at least 68 campaign rallies.
