LILOAN, CEBU —Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte yesterday said it is not her ambition to become president.
Mayor Duterte, the founder and chairman of Hugpong ng Pagbabago, reiterated that she’s leaving her destiny to God.
In an interview after gracing a groundbreaking ceremony for Pier 88 Port Development here, Mayor Duterte said she has no plans yet for the 2022 presidential elections and will just decide later.
“That (being a President) is not my ambition,” Mayor Duterte-Carpio or Inday Sara said.
In the previous campaign rallies of Hugpong, the presidential daughter was often teased by her allies as the next president.
During the campaign in Mandaue City last Thursday, she was introduced by Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisumbing as the next president.
Earlier, Akbayan Rep. Tom Villarin said that the alleged ambition of Mayor Inday Sara is upstaging the HNP candidates.
In her defense HNP senatorial bet Francis Tolentino said that the presence of Mayor Duterte in the campaign rallies attract voters for them.
Tolentino said Mayor Duterte is a great help to the group.
“No, she’s not upstaging us, in fact she is of big help to us candidates. She’s attracting voters especially if she introduces the candidates,” Tolentino said.
Aside from Tolentino, the HNP is campaigning for reelectionists Sen. Sonny Angara: JV Ejercito; Cynthia Villar and Koko Pimentel; Maguindanao Rep. Dong Mangudadatu; Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano; former police general Bato dela Rosa; former Special Assistant to the Pres. Bong Go; former journalist Jiggy Manicad; Ilocos Gov. Imee Marcos: and former Sens. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada.
