Public alarmed on ‘clip’ falsehood

THE National Bureau of Investigation will investigate a supposed voice clip now circulating on social media supposedly warning the public of a "total lockdown" due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

"I will ask NBI to investigate this phone clip on social media that seeks to agitate and alarm the public with a falsehood," Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Monday said.

Malacañang and several government agencies like the Department of National Defense and the Department of the Interior and Local Government have downplayed the voice clip.

Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya stressed that President Duterte has yet to make a decision whether to lift or not the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

In the voice clip, the voice of a woman can be heard warning people of a supposed "total lockdown."

Meanwhile in a statement, GMA Network denied that it was the voice of veteran journalist Jessica Soho who can be heard in the voice clip.
