Special Assistant to the President Bong Go lauded President Rodrigo Duterte for his administration’s accomplishments as he marked his second year of office.
“We have seen numerous infra and economic development projects, laws signed and implemented and social welfare, health and education programs put into place in the last two years,” he said in a statement sent to reporters.
“This is a testament of what President Duterte clearly wants for the country and for the Filipinos. We don’t have ambitions of clinging to power, neither will we push for laws that would result to such,” Go added.
“The President will always want a clean and graft-free government. And he has proven this many times by firing officials he appointed,” he said.
Duterte has fired a number of officials, among them government corporate counsel Rudolf Philip Jurado for allegedly issuing a legal opinion that would justify the grant of a 75-year gaming franchise to a free port locator in Aurora, and Bureau of Customs Deputy Commissioner Noel Patrick Sales Prudente over the supposed questionable release of container vans at the Manila South Harbor.
