SENATOR Grace Poe yesterday said that she believes the Catholic church eventually will lend the Balangiga Bells to the National Museum being a church that is not selfish.
Poe said that Catholicism is also about sharing, which is one of the religion’s teachings.
The lady senator is reacting to the earlier comment of the Catholic church in Borongan, Eastern Samar that any effort to transfer the bells is disrespectful.
This was after Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri filed a resolution requesting the bells or at least one of it to be displayed at the National Museum to give the public a chance to see a part of Philippine history.
For now, Poe said that the people of Eastern Samar should enjoy the presence of their prized bells which they waited to be returned for 117 years.
She believes that some day, the Catholic church will decide to lend the bells for more people to see and admire.
