DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio admitted that there are a number of allies who are encouraging her to run for President in 2022.
However, the founder of Hugpong ng Pagbabago said she refused to entertain the idea at this point as she wanted to focus on campaigning for the HNP senatorial candidates.
“Napakahirap ng trabaho ng isang president, so it will take more than a kantyaw or encouragement ng isa o dalawang yung pagdecide,” Duterte-Carpio said in an interview after the HNP sortie in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Earlier, Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said the presidential daughter is a rising star in politics.
Mayor Sara once said she will make a decision by January 2021 on whether she will run or not.
“Sabi ko nga kailangan niyan ng prayers for wisdom and guidance. Hindi ganyan kadali ang magdecide,” she added.
Meanwhile, the HNP founder appealed to her supporters to focus on the senatorial candidates of the group namely: former political adviser Francis Tolentino; reelectionists Sonny Angara; Cynthia Villar; JV Ejercito and Koko Pimentel; former journalist Jiggy Manicad; Gov. Imee Marcos; Taguig City Pia Cayetano; Maguindanao Rep. Dong Mangudadatu; Ex-Sens. Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada; former Assistant to the President Bong Go and former PNP Chief Bato dela Rosa.
“Magfocus dapat lahat sa 2019 elections before isipin yung 2022 election and after ng 2019 election there’s still three years na kailangan nating gawin lahat ang trabaho natin before we discuss again politics,” Duterte-Carpio said.
The Davao City mayor said she wanted to give President Duterte partners in the Senate in order to pursue the administration’s projects and programs.
“Most likely, ganun na ang nangyayari but ang ginagawa natin ngayon nakafocus na tulungan ang administration ni President Duterte na meron siyang mga kakampi sa Senado for the last three years of his term,” she also said.
All 13 HNP candidates are present in the campaign sortie in Valenzuela City. The team also attended campaign rally in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
