TWO political heavyweights have endorsed the mayoral bid of incumbent Vice Mayor Janella Ejercito who will be seeking San Juan City’s highest post in the coming May elections.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte expressed her support for Ejercito by raising the latter’s hand which was followed by a thundering applause by supporters during a Hugpong ng Pagbabago gathering recently in Manila.
Meanwhile, Senator Manny Pacquiao, who recently brought honor anew to the country by defending his secondary welterweight title by a unanimous decision over American Adrien Broner, also expressed his full support for and confidence in Janella Ejercito whom he described as a dynamic and self-motivated person.
“Naniniwala ako na sapat na ang pinag-aralan at ekspiryensa ni Vice Mayor Janella upang mamuno sa San Juan,” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao, a PDP-Laban senator, crossed party-lines to endorse Janella Ejercito who belongs to the PMP-HNP coalition.
Her opponent in the mayoralty race is a high-ranking PDP-Laban officer in San Juan.
Incumbent San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez and Janella Ejercito teamed up for an unprecedented vigorous anti-drug and rehabilitation campaign which led to various awards and achievements garnered by the San Juan City Anti-Drug Abuse Council or CADAC.
Ejercito also served as a former City Councilor before becoming the city’s vice mayor in 2016.
Ejercito took up Political Science in De La Salle University and finished secondary schooling in Poveda College.
In 2018, Ejercito completed the Emerging Leaders Executive Education of Harvard Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
