SC rebuffs Peter Lim

September 26, 2018

THE Supreme Court has junked the petition of businessman Peter Lim questioning the legality of the Department of Justice’s reinvestigation of the drug trading charges filed against him.

In a resolution, the SC threw out Lim’s petition citing his failure to present evidence showing that the DoJ committed grave abuse of discretion during reinvestigation.

‘The Court resolves to dismiss the petition for failure to show any grave abuse of discretion in rendering the challenged order and resolution which, on the contrary, appear to be in accord with the facts and the applicable law and jurisprudence,” the one-page resolution read.

In his plea, Lim asked the high court to issue a temporary restraining order to stop the DoJ from proceeding with the reinvestigation of the charges filed against him.

Lim argued that the charges were already junked by the DoJ in December for lack of evidence though then DoJ Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II ordered the reinstatement of the case after a public outcry over its dismissal.
