FOR fear that his case may suffer the same fate as detained Senator Leila de Lima’s, Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV yesterday said that he may well stay inside the Senate for two more weeks or until the courts have already decided on the issue of his arrest.
Although his camp is claiming that the President’s proclamation revoking his amnesty and ordering his arrest has deprived him of his liberty, Trillanes said that it is just a small price to pay “para itaguyod kung ano ang tama.”
After his service vehicle which went out of the Senate parking area to gas up was followed by men on a motorcycle last week, Trillanes now fully believes that he is to be arrested once he gets out of the Senate building and the announcement of Malacañang that they are not interested in arresting him is just a bluff.
“Ang nakuha namin ay diretsong info from the arresting unit na aarestuhin ako kumbaga ganun na lang ‘yun, kaya pala nila sinasabi na pwede ka lumabas eh bat nila sasabihin,” Trillanes said.
“Eh kung ayoko lumabas, gusto ko matulog dito ano pakialam nyo?” he added referring to those who are coaxing him to go out.
He said that he did not want to suffer the same fate as Senator De Lima whose case was frozen after she was arrested and detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
“Ang sasabihin lang dyan wala nang kaso sa korte kasi naaresto na, uupuan na naman nila ‘yan, parang sa kaso ni Senador De Lima,” he stressed.
He feared that if he tried to go out of the Senate, the authorities will do everything to keep him from going back inside. Once arrested President Duterte will just issue a statement which says basically, “Nagpaloko kayo sa akin eh.”
To criticism over his use of government funds while staying inside the Senate, Trillanes insisted that he is using what is normally allocated for his office and abiding by the regulations including turning off the air-conditioning unit at the scheduled time.
“For as long as ‘di naman tayo nakakaperwisyo sa operations at mga personnel, ang tantya natin siguro within the next two weeks meron nang liwanag ang mga nakasampa sa korte,” he added.
