EVEN senators are undecided whether there is a need to extend the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to COVID 19 outbreak.
Senator Panfilo 'Ping' Lacson said it is a most difficult decision to strike a balance between flattening the curve of COVID-19 and the looming economic recession due to inactivity.
"It is better left to those who have unlimited access to all the data to decide which is the best course of action to take moving forward," he said.
However, if provided with all the needed data, Lacson assures that the Congress can help in the policy direction.
Meanwhile, Senate President Tito Sotto said the government needs to carefully study any decision regarding the quarantine period.
"Have to study it well. Balance safety and economy. I agree with the thinking, "Life first Economy later"," he said.
Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, meanwhile stressed that the government should work faster by mass testing all the persons under investigation and persons under monitoring before coming up with a decision whether to extend the implementation of ECQ.
"Isolate / quarantine those positive to stop the transmission of the virus. Likewise , do mass treatment of the sick. Determine from public health scientist when the infection rate is manageable or less than 1. Only then can you transition to relaxing ECQ. How long? Depends on how fast govt does its work and be ahead of the virus," Recto said.
