Former President and now Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo went to Cebu on Saturday to inaugurate four roads and a port in Daanbantayan.
Upon arriving, Speaker Arroyo, accompanied by Cebu Reps. Benhur Salimbangon and Gwen Garcia, went straight to the inauguration and blessing of Don Pedro Highway in Bogo City. She then went to the blessing of Panugnawan Road in Medellin town. From there she proceeded to the blessing of the Agujo Road in Daanbantayan town. Later she led the inauguration and blessing of Maya Access Road in Daanbantayan.
Thereafter, she attended the inauguration of the new RORO port in Maya, Daanbantayan.
Salimbangon pointed out that the road projects were funded during her administration.
He also pointed out that he filed House Bill 8740 in Congress renaming the Don Pedro Rodriguez Highway from Bogo City to Daanbantayan to the Juan Macaraeg Highway to honor the grandfather of the Speaker, who was an official of the Department of Public Works and Highways during the American and Commonwealth governments responsible for building many road networks in Cebu.
