SENATORS Nancy Binay and JV Ejercito yesterday urged the Department of Health to step up its efforts to counter “what threatens to be a full-blown measles epidemic if left unchecked” and appealed to all parents to have their children vaccinated.
Senate Committee on Health and Demography chairman Sen. JV Ejercito stressed the importance of vaccines to avert possible ill effects of the highly-contagious disease.
“Children and pregnant women who remain unvaccinated are the most prone and are really at the highest risk of acquiring measles and could result to long-term complications, and even worse, death,” Ejercito stressed.
The DoH said over two million Filipino children are at risk of getting sick with measles due to lack of immunization.
