Tanod nabbed for P1M shabu

POLICE on Monday morning arrested in a buy-bust a barangay watchman (tanod) who yielded some P1 million worth of shabu in Quezon City.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo identified the suspect as TengMacalbog, 47, of Block 54, Lot 13, Zamboanga Street, Brgy. Maharlika, Taguig City.

According to Montejo, the District’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) under Maj. Timothy Aniway learned of Macalbog’s illegal drug activities.

After several days of surveillance, the DDEU through an asset was able to “penetrate” and make a deal with the target person.

Both parties agreed to a meet on Katipunan Avenue near the corner of CP Garcia in Brgy. UP Campus around 5:20 a.m.

A poseur-buyer was able to “score” P300,000 worth of shabu from the suspect who was caught by surprise when policemen suddenly appeared and handcuffed him.

Seized from the tanod were a total of 150 grams of shabu with estimated value of P1,020,000, a cellular phone, a motorcycle and the buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, the DDEU and operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) collared two suspects in a separate buy-bust operation also in QC.

Nabbed were Val AndrinaTating, 32, and AmbrocioEsperocho, 41, of Brgy. Holy Spirit.

The two were arrested around 9 p.m. at 988 San Roque St. in the barangay.

Cayetano reiterated that the House is committed to conduct impartial and comprehensive hearings on the proposed fresh franchise grant.
