February 25, 2019

HUGPONG ng Pagbabago campaign manager Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said reelectionist Sen. Cynthia Villar is the team’s top bet.

At the continuation of the HNP campaign sortie yesterday in Bulacan and Valenzuela City, Duterte-Carpio said Villar’s accomplishment and livelihood projects are the reasons why she is topping the surveys.

“Ang ating number 1 na pambato sa Senado, si Senator Cynthia Villar,” Duterte-Carpio said.

In an interview, Mayor Duterte-Carpio said Villar, who was first elected in the Senate in 2013, has the potential to top this year’s mid-term elections.

“Nakita na namin siyang nag-number one sa survey…meron siyang potential that she will end up number one in May 2019. And you can see her track record, nakita niyo naman gaano siya kasipag maghanap ng areas kung saan puedeng maglagay ng livelihood projects, farm schools,” she added.

Aside from Villar, the Hugpong ng pagbabago is endorsing Ilocos Gov. Imee Marcos; Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano; reelectionists Sonny Angara, JV Ejercito;and Koko Pimentel; former MMDA chair Francis Tolentino; former Police Chief Bato dela Rosa; former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go; former broadcast journalist Jiggy Manicad; Maguindanao Rep. Dong Mangudadatu; and ex-Sens. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr and Jinggoy Estrada.

In the past surveys, Villar and independent candidate Grace Poe shared the number 1 pick of the voters.

However, Villar said what she wanted is to be reelected and being number 1 would be a bonus to her.

“Gusto kong makabalik kasi gusto kong padamihin pa ang livelihood projects sa buong bansa,” she said.

Villar is the richest senator as of May 2018 with P3.6 billion net worth based on her Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth,

One of HNP’s bets, Manicad, was the one who first revealed that Villar is their top bet.
