ONGOING anti-criminality operations by the Police Regional Office 9 in the wake of its strict enforcement of the community quarantine program in Western Mindanao led in the arrest of three felons on Tuesday, PRO9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla announced yesterday.
Quidilla said that one of the suspects identified as Junior Laliyah, a 35-year- old resident of Barangay Poblacion in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte was arrested for carrying an unlicensed gun at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The official said that members of the Sibuco Municipal Police Station were enforcing their ‘No Angkas/Social Distancing Policy’ in the area when they spotted the suspect while on board a motorcycle being driven by another man.
When frisked, Laliyah yielded an unlicensed caliber .22 revolver with eight live ammunition and eight spare bullets.
The suspect is now facing a case for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.
In Zamboanga City, local policemen arrested Christopher Labanda,36, a resident of Sitio Sapa Grande in Bgy. Linduman who is wanted for attempted rape. A P200,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused by the San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur Regional Trial Court Branch 29.
Quidilla said the two other suspects identified as Angelica Uchida,22; and Jezreel Mason,32, both residents of Bgy. Sto. Niño were arrested in a buy-bust operation in San Jose, Bgy. Cawa-Cawa shortly before midnight Tuesday.
Recovered from the duo were nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some P18,000 worth of shabu and the boodle money topped by two marked P100 bills.
