A REGIONWIDE anti-narcotics operation by the Central Visayas police led to the seizure of over P26 million worth of shabu and a cache of firearms and the killing of a drug suspect, Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, Sinas said in Balamban, Cebu, local policemen shot dead two drug traffickers identified as Quazar Quiachon alias ‘Cocong,’’42; and Don San Diego, both residents of Talisay City, in a buy-bust which went awry on the national road in Barangay Prenza around 11:55 p.m. on Friday.
Sinas said the suspects sensed they were dealing with an undercover agent and tried to shoot the poseur. Back-up operatives retaliated hitting the two who were declared dead upon arrival at a local hospital. Recovered from the suspects were a large plastic packet containing around 2.1 kilograms of shabu worth P14.7 million, the buy-bust money topped by several marked bills and two loaded .45 pistols.
In Dumaguete City, undercover police officers shot and wounded Jemson Alaton, high-value target, during an operation in Bgy. Piapi around 1:45 p.m.
Sinas said the suspect, a resident of Purok Anduhaw in Bgy. Piapi, had sold drugs to a poseur when he realized the sting and tried to shoot him.
However, the gun misfired prompting the agent to return fire hitting Alaton in his waist. Although wounded, the suspect managed to flee on foot but was eventually captured by pursuing officers who brought him to the hospital for treatment.
Seized from him were at least 40 grams of shabu worth P272,000, a plastic pouch containing different receipts, a digital weighing scale, five marked P100 bills, P540 in different denominations and a loaded .38 revolver.
Another hgh-value traget identified as Leonorman Cañete Tabao, 25, was arrested in a buy-bust in Sitio Nazarene in Barangay Tinago, Cebu City around 2:45 p.m. on Friday.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession were 1.455 grams of shabu with a local market value of P9.9 million.
Another sting on Sombria Street, Sitio Gabon, Bgy. Lawaan in Talisay City, Cebu led to the arrest of Jundel Restauro, 26, of Bgy. Pooc in Talisay City.
Recovered from him were 11 plastic sachets containing around 155 grams of the shabu worth P1.1 million and the boodle money topped by five marked P100 bills.
Sinas said the Cebu City Police Office headed by Senior Supt. Royina Marzan also launched a series of anti-crime operations in the city and arrested 47 suspects and recovered three guns and at least P11 million worth of shabu and marijuana.
