A SERIES of anti-narcotics operations in Bulacan over the weekend resulted in the killing of an armed drug dealer and the arrest of five others, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director Senior Superintendent Chito G. Bersaluna said.
Killed in a gunbattle with members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the San Jose del Monte City was Ronnie Radin, a man in the local Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watch list.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon M. Coronel, the Bulacan police director said Radin and an unidentified motorcycle-driving cohort had just sold drugs to a poseur in Bgy. Dulong Bayan around 2 a.m. yesterday when they realized it was a buy-bust.
The suspect pulled out a gun and fired shots at the undercover officer but missed. Back-up operatives returned fire, killing the suspect on the spot.
The second suspect escaped and is still being hunted.
Bersaluna said a loaded .38 revolver and 2 fired cartridges, 13 heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu and a marked P500 bill he received from the poseur were recovered from the slain suspect.
The official said five drug suspects were arrested in separate buy-busts in Meycauayan and Malolos cities and the towns of Norzagaray and Pandi.
He identified the suspects as Vicente Lumansang,50; Monica Pulayan,23; Loriel Labios,33; Marlon Bautista,35; and a 16-year-old minor.
Recovered from the suspects were 11 plastic sachets of shabu, 2 plastic packets of dried marijuana leaves, a .45 pistol and marked bills.
