CABANATUAN CITY - -A suspected armed drug trafficker was killed in Laur town when he turned hostile and fought off undercover lawmen during a buy-bust operation conducted last Saturday.
Elsewhere in the province, three suspected drug pushers including a barangay tanod were nabbed in separate operations in Jaen and Sta. Rosa also on Saturday.
Police Maj. Manuel Catacutan, provincial police information office chief, identified the slain suspect in Laur as Ernesto Olongo, alias Nono, of Bgy. Sangitan, here.
The suspect resisted arrest and grabbed his cal.9mm pistol and fired at a lawman posing as a drug buyer during the buy-bust operation conducted in Bgy. Pinagbayanan at 4 a.m.
During the armed encounter, the suspect missed enabling the lawman to fire back, hitting him and causing his instantaneous death.
Those three arrested drug suspects were identified as barangay tanod Maximino Versoza III, 34, of Bgy. Putlod, Jaen; Julius Agaid, 28, construction worker and Kris Edzon Carpio, 39, electrician, both of Purok 4, Bgy. Mapalad, Sta. Rosa.
