100 MECQ violators, 23 drug suspects held in Cavite

A TOTAL of 100 Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine  violators in Cavite were apprehended by the local police on  the 2nd day of the MECQ in the province which also saw officers hauling to jail 28 other lawbreakers, 23 of them known drug personalities, a report to Police Regional Office 4-A director, Brigadier General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said yesterday.

Cavite Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Marlon R. Santos, said  the MECQ violators were accosted outside their homes while violating the social distancing rules, without face masks, without quarantine pass and for curfew violation.

Santos said his men also conducted 15 buy-bust operations across the province leading to the arrest of 23 drug dealers and the seizure of 51 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, three plastic packets with dried marijuana leaves, assorted drug paraphernalia and marked money paid to the suspects by undercover officers.

Another five persons wanted for various crimes in Cavite were also arrested on the same day, the official said. The suspects were facing charges for qualified theft, acts of lasciviousness, estafa and violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Santos said the 23 arrested drug suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165.
