CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has mobilized about 10,000 uniformed personnel to man quarantine checkpoints and control points along borders and boundaries of each province in Central Luzon following President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to place the entire Luzon under Enhanced Community Quarantine.
PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia said that starting midnight of March 17, cops were deployed all over the region to man checkpoints.
He said police officers have thermal scanner guns to check if those who want to enter and exit the borders of each province, city or municipality have no flu-like symptoms.
Sermonia said that strict implementation of all the directives of President Duterte for the entire duration of the enhanced community quarantine is being carried out. Failure to abide by the guidelines and measures shall be subjected to appropriate action, both criminal and administrative, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
He urged the public to cooperate with authorities as the PNP is trying its best to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“It is definitely an inconvenience to all of us but we are doing this for the safety and protection of every one. I have directed our personnel to always uphold the law and respect for human rights must be observed at all times,” he said.
