POLICE Regional Office 12 director, Chief Superintendent Eliseo T. Rasco on Tuesday pinned the Philippine National Police Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting to 11 of his men who were wounded in a roadside bombing perpetrated by the New People’s Army late afternoon Monday.
The Central Mindanao police director gave the Wounded Personnel Medal to the 11 members of the Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company, some of them still confined in a hospital in Kidapawan City while others were already back to their duties at the Cotabato Police Provincial Office.
He also visited the wake of Police Officer 1 Christopher Anadon, a colleague of the 11 who was killed in a landmine explosion in Magpet, North Cotabato and assured his family that all assistance due him would be given immediately while operations are ongoing to arrest the guerrillas involved in the attack. Rasco likewise vowed to file criminal charges against the suspects to ensure that they will go to jail.
The PRO12 condemned in the strongest possible term the incident in which NPA guerrillas detonated an improvised landmine along Purok 4-Kabisig in Barangay Poblacion while the 12 policemen from the Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company were passing on board two patrol vehicles.
The officers have just conducted an anti-gun ban and anti-criminality checkpoint in nearby Bgy. Doles and were on their way to their headquarters when they were attacked by the NPA gunmen.
