THE Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has apprehended some 12,000 persons for violating the guidelines on the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in various parts of Central Luzon.

PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia said that the said “pasaway” were arrested since the ECQ started last March 17.

He said that, of the 12,000 persons, 3,300 broke the 7 a.m. to 5 a.m. curfew rule, while the others were arrested for drinking and smoking in public places and disobedience and violence in checkpoints and control points.

Sermonia vowed to continue the strict enforcement of ECQ guidelines and will keep on arresting those who violate them.

“We continue to appeal to our public to stay indoors and obey the guidelines of the Enhanced Community Quarantine to help prevent its wide spread,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sermonia announced that the regional police will adopt the “White Ribbon Campaign” as part of its Rektang Bayanihan program.

He said the campaign aims to promote unity and spirit of Bayanihan to all communities wherein a white ribbon will be put at the gates of residents who waived to receive their relief goods and instead give it to needy families.

The Region 3 police chief also renewed his call to well-to-do families to participate in this program which is also a good way to prevent incidents of looting and burglary because of the "no work, no pay" situation and constrain public movement.
