2 car thieves killed in Cavite clash

CPPO, Camp General Pantaleon Garcia, Imus City, Cavite -- Two alleged carnappers were killed by operatives of the Tanza Police Station during a follow-up operation conducted at 3 a.m. yesterday, police provincial director Senior Supt. William Segun reported.

Tanza police officer-in-charge Chief Insp. Dhefry Punzalan said his men earlier received a report about a carnapped motorcycle (IB6496) owned by a certain Ronnie San Pedro Villar in Bgy. 36, Cavite City.

Led by SPO2 Roberto Lacasa of Regional Intelligence Division and another team led by SPO3 Kim Sobrepena, of PIT Cavite, RSOU and RMFB PRO4A led by SPO4 Paquito Chan Jr., responded, accompanied by a police asset.

The responding police officers sighted the suspects on the roadside in Carissa Homes, Bgy. Bagtas, Tanza. When the lawmen identified themselves to the two, one of the suspects drew a gun and fired several shots at the police officers, triggering an armed confrontation.

The two suspects, identified only as alias Peter and alias Rapper, were allegeldy involved in series of robbery- holdups and motor thefts in Cavite province, according to Provincial Intelligence Branch.

During the exchange of gunfire, the two suspects were hit in their bodies. They were rushed by the officers to General Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital in Trece Martires City but were declared dead on arrival by an attending physician.

A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team led by Chief. Insp. Perilla recovered a cal. .38 revolver loaded with three fired cartridge casings (FCC) and two live ammunition, an improvised shotgun loaded with a live ammo, a, FCC for cal. .45, three FCCs for cal. 9mm, a  fragmented hand grenade, three sachets of shabu, a 9mm jacketed fired bullet and a motorcycle.
