2 drug dealers die in Bulacan encounter

TWO suspected drug traffickers in Bulacan were killed in a gunbattle with undercover officers in Sta. Maria town early yesterday morning, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said.

The slain suspects were identified as Roberto dela Peña,  32,  of Barangay Sta. Clara, Sta. Maria municipality; and Richard Alabado,23, a resident of Bgy. Bagbaguin, also in Sta. Maria. According to Sta. Maria Municipal Police Station chief, Lieutenant Colonel Carl Omar Fiel, the two opted to fight it out with undercover agents shortly after they conspired to sell shabu to a poseur and sensed the entrapment.

The two yielded a .45 pistol with a magazine containing five live ammunition, a .38 revolver with three live bullets and three spent cartridges, 13 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu and a marked P500 bill paid to them by the agent.

Fiel said  prior to the sting, the two gained notoriety for their involvement in the trafficking of shabu in different barangays in Sta. Maria.
