TWO notorious drug traffickers in Central Mindanao were killed in separate gunfights with undercover officers who tried to arrest them in separate buy-bust operations in General Santos City this week, Police Regional Office 12 director, Brigadier General Michael John F. Dubria announced yesterday.
The official said one of the suspects identified as Junrel Santaren alias ‘Jong-jong’ yielded 20 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill and a caliber .38 revolver with two live ammunition and two spent cartridges.
According to Dubria, the suspect had just sold shabu to an undercover officer in Purok Malinawon-Lanoy in Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City past 2 p.m. Thursday when he sensed the ongoing entrapment operation and tried to shoot the poseur but missed.
Back-up operatives returned fire hitting the suspect who died while being rushed to a local hospital.
On Tuesday, a known ‘high-value target’ in the region was killed in a shootout with undercover officers in the same city.
Dubria identified the slain suspect as Bimbo Datumangoda Solaiman alias ‘Dats,’ a resident of Purok 11-A, Block 4, Barangay Fatima in General Santos City.
Dubria said the suspect was found in possession of a caliber .38 revolver with three live ammunition and a spent cartridge, 19 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu and the marked money paid to him by a poseur during the sting in Purok La Vista in Barangay Tambler at12:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Dubria said the operation was conducted by operatives from the PRO12 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Regional Intelligence Division, the Regional Intelligence Unit 12 and the General Santos City Police Station in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
