CABANATUAN CITY – Two suspected drug traffickers were killed after turning hostile and engaging undercover operatives in separate gunbattles during the conduct of buy-bust operations in Lupao town and in the Science City of Muňoz on Thursday.
Killed were Bernard De Vivar, alias Tetet, of Bgy. San Roque, this city and Robert Downing, alias Bobet, of Purok Villa Pinili, Bgy. Bantug, Science City of Muňoz.
Captain Ronan James Eblahan, leader of the Lupao anti-narcotics police unit said Vivar sold P500-worth of shabu to a police-poseur buyer during a buy-bust in Bgy. Salvacion at 1 a.m. Vivar, however, sensed his drug buyer was a real cop. He drew out a gun and fired, resulting in a gunfight that led to his instantaneous death.
In the Science City of Muňoz, police said the drug sting was conducted against Downing in Purok Villa Pinili, Bgy. Bantug at 10 p.m.
Downing turned hostile and engaged lawmen in a firefight after the illegal drugs worth P500 was bought from him, resulting in his neutralization, police said.
