2 drug suspects killed in Cebu shootout

TWO armed drug traffickers in Cebu were killed in a shootout with undercover officers in Talisay City early  yesterday morning, Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas said.

The suspects identified as Jesson Aninon, a resident of Canton Ville in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City and Aldrich Deipaine, of nearby Bgy. Lawaan III, exchanged fire with a team of policemen  after they sensed the entrapment operation  12:16 a.m. yesterday, the official said.

According to Sinas, local policemen led by Supt. Marlu Conag and Inspector Jan Ace Layug conducted the buy-bust operation to arrest the two suspected “high-value” drug targets  who have been the subject of numerous complaints from their neighbors.

The two had just conspired to sell shabu to the poseur when they sensed the operation and pulled out concealed weapons and started firing at the undercover operative. Back-up officers retaliated to defend their colleague, Sinas said.

Both suspects were killed on the spot, he added.

Recovered from the possession of the slain suspects were two caliber .38 revolvers with several live ammunition, the marked money they received from the poseur, dozens of plastic sachets containing nearly 32 grams of the  so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P214,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia.
