2 foreigners among 20 terrorists slain by Armed Forces of the Philippines

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines ( AFP) yesterday said that at least two foreign fighters were among the 20 terrorists killed in the  military operation against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) that started on Monday in Maguindanao.

This was according to Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division (ID) Commander Major Gen. Cirilito Sobejana.

Sobejana said yesterday troops conducting clearing operation recovered a body of an Arabic looking man and several body parts that scattered in the area and believed to be hit by the bomb strikes.

On Tuesday, Sobejana said a Singaporean terrorist identified as Muhamad Ali Abdul Rahiman alias Mauwiyah who was said to be a remnant of Marwan was in the area during the bombing and was believed to be among the fatalities.

Mauwiyah is a senior Jema’ah Islamiyah member reportedly coddled by Moro rebels.

Aside from Mauwiyah, also present in the area were BIFF sub-leader Salahudin Hassan  and a certain commander bastardo.

Other fatalities were identified as  Abdul Karim Kadil, Yusop Lakiman alias Paks, Pagal Yusop alias Bastardo, Musa alias Usa, Dungadong alias Dong, Hamer Lakiman,  Alladin Bagundong, Baser Abdula,  Muhalidin Akob, Ansare Mukalir, Datokan Masala, Mutasir Manap, Kage Manap,  Duang Ali At, Mubarak Antoling and Yusop Kadir.

It can be recalled that  on Monday, the 6th ID  launched air strikes and ground operations against BIFF fighters in the so-called “SPMS box” -- the towns of Shariff Aguak, Pagatin, Mamasapano, and Salibo where the different BIFF factions operate.

As of press time, a total of 1,360 families or more than 5,000 residents were displaced in the military operations Captain Arvin Encinas, 6th ID spokesman, said the deaths resulting from the operations significantly reduced the number of BIFF combatants.
