TWO ‘high-value’ drug targets in Central Visayas were arrested by combined agents of the  Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group and the Cebu City Police Office during a buy-bust operation late Friday evening which led in the confiscation of a kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million, officials announced yesterday.

Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas identified the captured suspects as John Joe de Leon alias’Insik,’ a 35-year old resident of 18-R Padilla Street, Duljo Fatima, Cebu City and Alvino Bicada alias ‘Abhong,’32, of B. Rodriguez Extension in Bgy. Sambag, also in the same city.

Sinas said that members of the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 5 headed by Supt. Glen Mayam, with the assistance of several teams from the PRO7 Regional Special Operations Group and the Cebu City Police Office led by Chief Inspector Eduard Sanchez arrested the duo after they conspired to sell a kilo of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine to an undercover officer inside de Leon’s residence at 9 p.m. Friday.

Recovered during the sting were 20 large heat-sealed plastic packets containing the drugs and the boodle money topped by several marked bills.

PNP-DEG director, Chief Supt. Albert Ignatius D. Ferro said that the two suspects are believed to be members of a big-time drug trafficking syndicate operating in Central Visayas. Both are now being held at the Cebu City Police Station 2 while non-bailable charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs are being readied against them.
