2 hold up salesman, driver of P170K

GAPAN CITY -- Two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects robbed at gunpoint a cigarette company salesman and his driver of their collection money amounting to P170,000 in broad daylight here on Monday.

Robbed were Jerry Castillo, 41, salesman and his driver Melchor Canosa, 44, both of the Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corporation.

City police head Lt. Col. Criselda De Guzman said the victims reported the robbery at 6 p.m. or four and a half hours after the alleged heist had transpired.

She said the duo complained that they were robbed in Bgy. Bayanihan at 1:30 p.m.

They alleged that they were waiting to get their collection in one of the sari-sari stores in the area when two unidentified armed men wearing face masks and jackets suddenly appeared and poked their guns at them before carting away their collection money worth P170,000.

De Guzman said after getting the money, the suspects rode on a motorcycle and fled to unknown direction.

She said follow-up operations and investigation are still on going.
