2 HVTs fall, P3.4M shabu seized in Bicol

TWO suspected ‘high-value’ drug targets in Bicol region were arrested by the local police during a buy-bust operation in Milaor, Camarines Sur which led in the seizure of half-a-kilo of suspected shabu worth P3.4 million, Police Regional Office 5 director, Brigadier General Arnel B. Escobal said yesterday.

Suspects Alex Salcedo and Rolie Recto yielded a plastic bag containing 500 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill and a cell phone they used in contacting the undercover officer, the official said.

Escobal said a Toyota Innova and a Yamaha Mio motorcycle used by the suspects to transport the drugs were also impounded by authorities during the entrapment operation along the Milaor-Naga Bypass Road in Barangay Tarusanan in Milaor municipality at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The Bicol police director said members of the Milaor Municipal Police Station, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the National Bureau of Investigation and the Army’s 9th Infantry Division were involved in the sting.

Escobal said the two suspects will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
