2 Indian traders caught for raping ‘mentally-ill woman’

CABANATUAN CITY – Two Indian businessmen on Monday were arrested by the police after they were accused of sexually assaulting a mentally-disabled woman in their apartment in this city.

City police chief Supt. Ponciano Zafra identified the two  trader-suspects as Gurpinder Saimbi, 26; and Eric Singh, 29; both Indian nationals, of Door 4, Pascual Apartment, corner Sunflower and Sampaguita Sts., Bgy. Magsaysay Sur, this city.

Zafra said Chona (not her real name), 22, of Door 2, Mariano Apartment, Anthurium Street, Milbuena Subd., Bgy. Magsaysay Sur, was accompanied by her father when they sought help from the authorities.

Sr. Insp. Vladimir Dela Cruz said the suspects were allegedly under the influence of liquor when the alleged rape was committed at 1 p.m. on Monday.

Police arrested the suspects more than six hours after the rape.

PO3 Mary Joy Bernardo of the city PNP Women and Children’s Desk said rape charges were filed against the arrested suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
