TWO remnants of the ISIS inspired Maute Terror Group surrendered to government forces the other day in Lanao del Sur.
This was confirmed yesterday by Philippine Army (PA) spokesperson Lt.Col. Louie Villanueva.
Villanueva said those who surrendered were members of ISIS/Maute under Abu Dar.
They surrendered at around 9 a.m. to the 55th Infantry Battalion in Pagayawan, Lanao del Sur on Friday.
Record showed that Owayda Benito Marohombsar also known as Abu Dar, became the leader of the Maute/ISIS remnants after the successful military operation during Marawi siege.
Accordingly the two former terrorists decided to return to the fold of the law because they were already tired of running and evading government forces who are pursuing them.
Lt. Col Ian Ignes, cimmander of 55th Infantry Battalion said troops the terrorists are doing their best to arrest them .
Colonel Romeo Brawner, commander of 103rd Infantry Brigade on the other hand said their combat operation will be relentless and continuous against the enemy so as not to hamper the recovery, reconstruction and rehabilitation of Marawi.
The two remnants also surrendered one caliber KG 9 sub-machine gun and one caliber 45 pistol.
