TWO wanted New People’s Army rebels were arrested by the police in Siaton, Negros Oriental on Saturday morning, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.
The two were identified as Diokno Bacubac, a 46-year old resident of Barangay Malabuhan in Siaton municipality and Angelita Quincina alias ‘Amaya,’ 34, of Danao, Bohol.
Sinas said that the two were arrested in Sitio Looc in Bgy. Albiga past 10 a.m. Saturday by members of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Intelligence Branch, the PRO7 Regional Intelligence Division, the Siaton Municipal Police Station and the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion.
He said that Bacubac, a suspected NPA squad leader was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for homicide and attempted homicide issued respectively by a Dumaguete City and a Bais City Regional Trial Court in Negros Oriental.
Sinas said that Bacubac’s companion later identified as Quincina was also arrested after she was seen trying to throw suspected rebel documents and one M-203 live ammunition away in an effort to hide the pieces of evidence.
The two are now being held in a local police station facing criminal charges.
