TWO persons were arrested by undercover officers of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Cavite last Monday for hoarding and selling of overpriced ethyl alcohol, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel reported yesterday.
The official identified the two as Red Elefan and Annalyn Ramirez. He said Elefan was arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by members of the Cavite CIDG and the Cavite Police Provincial Office along Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay Panapaan, Bacoor City.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were 50 gallons of 70 percent ethyl alcohol and the marked money paid to him by an undercover agent. The alcohol products were found inside the suspect’s blue Mazda which was impounded by the CIDG.
Another sting in Tierra Nevada in Bgy. San Francisco, General Trias City around 5 p.m. Monday led in the arrest of Ramirez who yielded 200 gallons of 70 percent ethyl alcohol being sold at P650 each gallon and the boodle money paid to her by a poseur.
According to Coronel, the operation against Elefan was triggered by an information that he was selling overpriced ethyl alcohol products in the province. A validation showed that indeed, Elefan was selling alcohol for P750 each gallon.
The official said that during investigation, Elefan pointed to Ramirez as the one supplying him the alcohol.
Coronel said that the recovered ethyl alcohol product from the suspects was valued at P167,500.
