CABANATUAN CITY -- Anti-narcotics operatives clashed on Wednesday with suspected drug personalities during separate encounters in Nueva Ecija, resulting in the death of two druggies, police said yesterday.
In Peñaranda, Senior Insp. Danilo Liberato Jr., town police head, identified the slain suspect as Eduardo Tobias, of Purok 3, Bgy. M.S. Garcia, Cabanatuan City. His unidentified cohort eluded arrest and fled on board a red Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle going towards the north.
Liberato said the two suspects initiated a firefight with his men after consummating a drug deal in Bgy. Poblacion 2 at 1:30 a.m.
He said Tobias, who was among those included in the police’s drug watch list in Cabanatuan was the first to fire shots at the operatives during the buy-bust operation, triggering a gunfight between them.
In Bgy. San Roque, Guimba, killed during a clash after a buy-bust operation was tricycle driver Ferdinand Lising, 40, alias ‘Boy Lising’.
Senior Supt. Leon Victor Rosete, provincial police chief said the suspect was one among those drug pushers included in the list of the police’s Double Barrel Resumption drive.
