TWO wanted rape suspects were arrested by the police in separate manhunt operations in Zamboanga del Sur on Tuesday, Police Regional Office 9 director, Brigadier General Jesus D. Cambay Jr. reported yesterday.
One of the suspects identified as Aprilo Malayo, a 22-year-old laborer from Purok Caimito in Barangay Piniglibano in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for three counts of statutory rape issued by Judge Jaime Caberte of the Pagadian City Regional Trial Court Branch 22.
Cambay said the suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Purok Kalinis in Bgy. Paglaum by members of the Dumalinao Municipal Police Station.
The 2nd identified as Jhunrey Umambac, a 23-year-old farmer was arrested in Purok 6, Bgy. Bantal in Bayog municipality at 8 a.m. Tuesday by policemen on the basis of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Ivy Damayo-Elviña of the Pagadian City RTC Branch 1.
No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of both suspects, said Cambay.
